While investigating the basement, Ozzie hears the leprechaun calling for help and mistakes him for a little child. By taking out the worn four-leaf clover, he frees the leprechaun. Leprechaun tells Ozzie he's a shoemaker from Ireland who came to America in pursuit of gold. When Ozzie's attempts to convince his friends that he had seen a leprechaun turn out to be futile, he instead follows a rainbow in the hopes of finding a pot of gold at its end. Because Alex is afraid Ozzie may hurt himself, he pursues him. Ozzie witnesses the miraculous appearance of a bag holding one hundred gold coins. After Ozzie investigates it and mistakenly swallows a coin, thinking it would cure his brain, they bury the riches in a secret ancient well.
J. D. falls into a trap when a leprechaun on a farm pretends to be a cat and bites his hand. After Tory and others take him to the hospital, he rides a tricycle. When Alex and Ozzie visit a pawn shop to inspect the gold's purity, the leprechaun kills the proprietor, Joe, for stealing his gold and polishes his shoes before departing. The leprechaun's skeleton, after tumbling into the well, emerges and demands, "I want my gold." Nathan uses gasoline to set fire to both items after returning the leprechaun to the well. Tory and her father are reconciled, she marries Nathan, and the two have a child when the police arrive. While authorities investigate the debris of the well, the leprechaun vows he would not rest until he recovers every penny of his fortune.
